Your First Line of Defense Against Back Pain

chiropractor - Your First Line of Defense Against Back PainHealth-care consumers with back pain could have saved $1.3 billion over two years if they had consulted chiropractors “at the outset,” according to a report by Optum,  an international health-care research firm.

The report went on to say that patients treated by a chiropractor within 10 days of an episode were less likely to need imaging, injections, prescription medications and surgery.

The Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of chiropractic care, contends that patients who consult a chiropractor before medical intervention achieve a 40 percent reduction in the cost of treatment.

Apparently the message is getting out. As of January 1, 2016, the Oregon Health Plan – the state’s version of Medicaid – will prioritize physical therapy, chiropractic and other complementary treatments over painkillers and surgery.

An estimated 50 percent to 80 percent of the U.S. population experiences back pain at some point in their lives. What’s more, at any point in time, 15 percent to 37 percent of us are experiencing back pain.

Chiropractors are experts on the neuromusculoskeletal system and the spine. A chiropractor can tell whether your pain is due to a misalignment of your spine. A misaligned spine puts pressure on the delicate nerves in the neck and back, interrupting their ability to communicate with the limbs and organs. The effect is much like a hose with a kink in it, or a car with wheels that are out of alignment. Simply put, your body can’t function at its peak.

The solution is Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP), which can rehabilitate the spine, reshape it, and provide exercises to strengthen your back and neck and restore your body’s health. Chiropractic BioPhysics is the most scientific, researched and results-oriented corrective chiropractic technique.
