Las Vegas Chiropractor Discusses Potential for Improved Vision

Las Vegas Chiropractor Discusses Potential for Improved VisionChiropractic patients often report unanticipated benefits beyond the maladies they originally visited a chiropractor for. One of these is improved eyesight.  Plenty of peer-reviewed journals include case reports and other articles attesting to this phenomenon, and it’s not unusual for a chiropractic office to have an eye chart on the wall.

In 1995, chiropractor Allan Terrett and ophthalmologist Frank Gorman conducted a comprehensive review of 71 references to ocular changes associated with manipulation or adjustment. The references cited improvements in visual acuity, motor function of the eye, pressure within the eye and pupil size.

The pair determined that the rationale behind the changes involves the blood supply to the eye. The neck affects the vertebral arteries that ultimately supply blood to the eye and its surrounding structures.  A misaligned neck can constrict the arteries, negatively affecting communication between the brain and the optic nerve. Correcting the misalignment improves oxygenation of the involved cells, thus restoring normal function.

According to another study, published in the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine, treating patients for cervical spondylosis, or the age-related wear and tear on spinal disks in the neck, alleviated blindness or blurred vision. The study noted visual improvement in 83 percent of the cases. Of 54 cases followed for a minimum of six months, 91 percent showed lasting effects.

Therein lies the beauty of chiropractic, according to chiropractor Dr. Jason Jaeger at Advanced Spine & Posture in Las Vegas, Nevada. Chiropractors – particularly those trained in Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) – find and correct misalignments in the neck. This restores the blocked blood supply and, therefore, normal vision.

Dr. Jaeger is a specialist in Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP), which focuses on realigning the shape of your spine and restoring normal nerve flow. Only a handful of chiropractors in Las Vegas – including Dr. Jaeger – are trained in CBP, the most researched, scientific and results-oriented corrective chiropractic technique.

Advanced Spine and Posture is among only a handful of health centers in the United States specializing in all aspects of your health, from medical care and preventative care to Chiropractic BioPhysics.
