Auto Crash? Get Checked Now, Says Las Vegas Chiropractor

If you’ve been in a recent auto crash – even if it was just a minor fender bender – don’t automatically assume that you’re fine. Get checked out by a chiropractor – an expert in the care of bones, muscles, nerves and connective tissue.

You could be suffering from whiplash, which can occur at speeds of only 5 miles per hour. You don’t always feel the effects immediately, warns chiropractor Dr. Jason Jaeger of Advanced Spine and Posture in Las Vegas. It could take days, weeks or even months before symptoms appear.

Whiplash occurs when your neck is forcibly “whipped” back and forth and side to side past its normal range of motion. This abrupt movement can knock the spine out of alignment and also strain the neck muscles, causing stiffness, soreness and pain.

Chiropractic is the favored treatment for whiplash, according to a study published in 1999 in the Journal of Orthopaedic Medicine. That study concluded: “Whiplash injuries are common. Chiropractic is the only proven effective treatment in chronic cases.”

Other injuries that can occur as a result of a car accident include headaches and migraines, a herniated disc or sciatica. Aside from head injuries, stress or strain on your neck muscles can cause pain to radiate to your head. A herniated disc – which can be caused by the sudden jerk from a car accident — occurs when a spinal disc bulges, putting pressure on the nerves in your back.

Collisions can change the structure of your neck, causing spinal misalignments and, potentially, chronic pain.

That’s because a misaligned spine puts pressure on the delicate nerves within the spinal cord, interfering with the flow of messages from your brain through the nervous system and out to your limbs, organs, and muscles, so your body can’t perform at peak capacity. Chiropractic care restores the normal nerve flow, so your body can perform as it was meant to.

Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) takes chiropractic one step further than pain relief. The technique can improve or even restore normal spinal structure, through adjustment, exercise and “spinal remodeling.” Chiropractic BioPhysics is the most researched, scientific and results-oriented corrective chiropractic technique.
